Brisbane South Bank

A trip down the river in Brisbane, Australia, on one of the famous Brisbane CityCats or ferries will take you to many interesting places well worth visiting. One such place is South Bank Parklands.

On the Brisbane River, opposite the Brisbane Central Business District (CBD), there are three ferry wharves located at South Bank. There is also access to suburban and city train and bus services, and lots of parking available. Or you can walk or cycle across the Goodwill Bridge from the Brisbane Botanical Gardens or Queensland University of Technology (QUT).

Known as the cultural hub of Brisbane, Southbank is home to the Brisbane Convention Centre and the Performing Arts Complex. With accommodation nearby and so much to see and do, this is an ideal place to stay for a weekend or for a week.

Southbank restaurants are plentiful, with a wide variety of choices from riverside cafés to seafood restaurants and takeaway stores. The Southbank markets, held every weekend, also have a fine selection of gourmet treats on offer. Or take your own food and cook up a feast on a barbeque in Southbank's tropical garden settings near Streets Beach, an idyllic man-made lagoon.

The South Bank Cinemas also boast a café – the Danesi Café. At some venues, you can purchase a meal and movie package or receive discounted or free car parking on presentation of your meal receipt.

If you prefer something more casual there are a selection of great pubs to choose from, some with historic charm and others offering fantastic river views.
